My Goals and Priorities as County Judge

Grimes County's emergency medical services and volunteer fire departments deserve particular attention.  Whether responding to a traffic accident, agricultural incident, grass fire, structure fire, or another emergency, these volunteers routinely step forward when their neighbors need them most.  They represent one of the best traditions of rural communities: neighbors keeping neighbors safe.

Yet many of these departments operate with limited resources and depend heavily on fundraising and the generosity of the communities they serve.

Additional county resources can help ensure these departments have dependable response vehicles, modern radios and communications equipment, properly maintained lifesaving equipment, and access to the training their volunteers need to perform an increasingly demanding job safely.

Those are investments that remain in Grimes County.  They benefit the people who were born here, the people who recently moved here, and the people who will arrive because of the development that is coming.

Today, Grimes County stands at a crossroads...we are experiencing tremendous growth and change, and with that growth comes opportunity, but it also brings challenges that require strong leadership, honest communication, and public trust.

Let me be very clear… I am not against growth, economic development, or new opportunities for our community. I want Grimes County to prosper. I want local businesses to succeed, families to thrive, and future generations to have opportunities right here at home.

Our growth must be responsible, it must be transparent, and it must involve the people who will be affected by it.

 Countywide road improvements and public safety are obvious priorities.  Many of our rural roads need significant attention. Improving them would make everyday travel safer, and reduce unnecessary wear and tear on residents' vehicles.  

   We need to prepare our infrastructure for the additional construction traffic, employees, contractors, and other activity that technological and industrial development will bring. 

This is exactly why I am running for Grimes County Judge.  I believe leadership begins with listening. Not with a title or from behind a desk, but by sitting down with the people who have invested their lives in this community. 

One thing you'll notice about me is that I don't just shake hands and move on. I pull up a chair, sit down, and spend time with people because that's where trust is built. I want to hear what's on your mind, what concerns you, and what you hope to see for the future of Grimes County.

I am truly humbled by the turnout at my meet-and-greet events. The stories shared, the meaningful conversations, and ALL the reasons why you chose to make Grimes County your home only makes my journey to becoming your next County Judge even more important.

We are entering a time of significant change and I believe the best way forward is through open communication, listening to one another, and working together to put Grimes County first.

As we celebrated America's 250th birthday in July, I was reminded that our nation was built on the principles of service, personal responsibility, commitment, and neighbors coming together for the common good. Those same values can help us build an even stronger, more prosperous future for ALL of Grimes County.

I chose to come back to Grimes County and invest my life, my family, and my future here because I believe in this community.

If we pull together, our best days are still ahead. If we fail to do so, we risk losing the very character, spirit, and soul that make Grimes County worth fighting for.  The challenges ahead will not be solved through anger, political games, or pitting neighbor against neighbor. They will be solved by bringing "All Voices" to the table, listening to one another, and working toward solutions that benefit the entire county.  Together, we can restore trust, strengthen our community, and build a future that puts the people of Grimes County first.
