SpaceX TeraFab is tangible, real, and moving forward in Grimes County. Its presence will undoubtedly alter this area economically, socially, environmentally, and aesthetically.

Some believe the county they know and love will be permanently changed, perhaps even becoming unrecognizable. Those concerns come from people who recently chose to make Grimes County their home, as well as families whose roots here stretch back generations.

Others see economic development, new opportunities, and technological advancement as necessary parts of our future and believe TeraFab can play a vital role in bringing those opportunities to Grimes County.

People have legitimate reasons to be concerned about what we may lose, just as others have legitimate reasons to be hopeful about what we may gain.

So the question now becomes: What do we do next, as the citizens of Grimes County?  We can remain divided by anger, anxiety, uncertainty, and frustration over decisions that have already been made.  Or, we can acknowledge those feelings, learn from the process that brought us here, and begin determining what we expect from our county government and our new corporate neighbor moving forward.

This is not the end of Grimes County. It is the beginning of a new chapter, even if it is not the chapter many of us expected.

The immense size of the TeraFab project will undoubtedly bring challenges, but it also creates an opportunity to demand meaningful, lasting improvements for the residents of this county.

Money received by Grimes County as a result of this development should be used wisely, transparently, and wherever possible to address needs that have gone unresolved for far too long.

We all know SpaceX TeraFab is swiftly moving forward with land clearing and site work at Gibbons Creek.  As this enormous project progresses, it will introduce issues to the residents of Grimes county that will impact our everyday life in ways we could not anticipate. 

Land clearing fire concerns have already been witnessed by residents adjacent to the project site, as anxiety increases about possible grass fires down wind of the area. 

SpaceX stated there would be fire, emergency services and medical provided for their project, but apparently there are NO clear guidelines on when, exactly those services will be in place and operational.

Until then, the local VFDs will be the county's only line of defense for our neighbors who live around the TeraFab facility site. 

We need assurances from SpaceX TeraFab that we, the people of Grimes County, are not left to fend for ourselves as this project moves forward.  Site safety, fire control mitigation and local property protection from harm, due to burning emissions are not negotiable... The safety of our county citzens should ALWAYS be priority ONE.

SpaceX TeraFab should not be viewed simply as a glass-half-empty or glass-half-full equation.

It should be a reminder that regardless of the circumstances placed before us, our responsibility remains the same: protect our community, preserve our quality of life, and create as much prosperity and stability as possible for the people of Grimes County.

The citizens of this county have always stood shoulder to shoulder during difficult times. We pull up our neighbors when they need help, and when problems arise, we find solutions. That tradition will not stop simply because TeraFab enters the picture.
